A List Of Your Debts
No surprise here. Your bankruptcy attorney needs to know who your creditors are so we can get rid of them! So, the easiest thing to do is gather your last bill from each creditor to take to your attorney. If you have a recent credit report then this will come in handy. If you don't have the actual bills with account numbers that's ok. The name and approximate amount owed will be sufficient. The attorney can take it from there.
Last Filed Income Tax Return
This is a requirement in bankruptcy that is provided to the trustee so naturally your lawyer will need to take a peek at it as well. Sometimes more than one return will be needed.
Bank Statements
The last 6 months
Mortgage Statements
If you own a home we will want to see the mortgage statement
Other Documents
We may need to look at other documents as well such as Insurance statements, business documents, estate documents and more. Remember our goal is to protect you and get rid of your debt so we have to be thorough with knowing your finances.
